Participation at Nation’s Day Festival, Beirut

The Embassy of India, Beirut participated in the 08th Nation's Day Festival organized by the Beirut Golden Awards Association under the patronage of Ministry of Tourism and Culture and support of Beirut Governor, Beirut at Beirut Souks on October 07th, 2022 from 03:30 pm onwards. Twelve embassies including Embassy of Indonesia, Russia and Turkey participated in this cultural event. The Embassy was provided one stall by the organizers. The Embassy decorated the stall by displaying tourism promotion materials on India, roll-ups of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav(AKAM) and also displayed items received from TRIFED, Hyderabad for wider publicity.

2. The Festival was inaugurated by Minister of Culture H.E. Judge Mohammed Mortada & Governor of Beirut H.E. Judge Marwan Abboud, in presence of Mr Mohammed Halwani, President Beirut Golden Awards. The Minister of Culture HE Mortada, Governer of Beirut HE Abboud and Mr. Halwani along with Ambassador Dr Suhel Khan also visited our Indian stall and interacted with Embassy officials. They were also briefed about Indian culture by the Embassy officials. Popular Indian snacks Samosa and Gulab Jamun were also offered to them.

3. During the 03 hours long festival, popular Indian snacks Samosa and Gulab Jamun were also offered to the visitors. A large number of local Lebanese showed interest in our stall for popular Indian products kept for sale in association with local Indian Traders. Some members of Indian Diaspora also visited our Indian stall. Sh. S.C. Mehta, former Ambassador and currently Director International Operations of Jaipur Foot visited our Indian Stall and put his good remarks to the Visitors Book. All visitors were also informed about the re-starting of Bharatnatyam, Bollywood Dance classes and Yoga Sessions at the Embassy and publicity materials on tourism promotion were distributed to them in paper bags showcasing Gujarat Tourism logo.

4. Mr. Deepesh Hoskere, Bharatnatyam Dance Teacher cum Performer and his two Bharatnatyam students Ms. Seiko Sugita, and Ms Shailja Kumari presented enthralling Bharatnatyam dance performance depicting Lord Shiva. This performance was very much appreciated by everyone present at the event. Also, one solo dance of fusion of Bharatnatyam and Bollywood was performed by Mr. Deepesh Hoskere which also earned huge round of applause by the audience.
