Celebration of Ambedkar Jayanti 2023

As part of ongoing activities under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the Embassy of India, Beirut organized the following two events:-

(i) Celebration of the Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on 14 April 2023 at the Embassy premises: -

The event commenced with the garlanding of the portrait of Baba Saheb Ambedkar by Charge d’Affaires Shri Sandeep Grover. Visiting officers of the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi also graced the occasion by offering floral tributes to Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Thereafter, prominent members of Indian community also paid their floral tributes to Baba Saheb. The event was attended by all India based officials along with their families.

 A ‘Photo Exhibition’ on the illustrious life of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, was also inaugurated on this occasion. The exhibition was widely appreciated by the visitors as it helped in enriching their awareness about Baba Saheb.

 

The public screening of documentary named “Mooknayak- Leader of the Silent” based on the life, ideas & ideals of Baba Saheb captivated the audience. Light refreshments were served to all visitors.

 

 (ii) Celebration of the Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on 16 April, 2023 at the Sant Ravidas Gurudwara, Beirut: -

 

On this occasion, Sh. Sandeep Grover, Charge d’Affaires visited the Sant Ravidas Gurudwara, Beirut and paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr. Ambedkar followed by India based officers of the Embassy. The statue was inaugurated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar on 17 April, 2022 with the combined efforts of the Mission and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee. A special prayer was also performed in the fond memory of Baba Saheb by an eminent member of the Gurudwara joined by all Indian Community members present there.

 

Charge d’Affaires also addressed the gathering of Indian Community members and thanked the members of the Gurudwara management for organizing the event. He assured the Indian community necessary help and support of the Embassy in all consular and community issues. On this occasion, cake cutting ceremony was also held to mark the birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The event was attended by more than 150 members of the Indian community and India based officials along with their family members.
